PARLIAMENTARY WORK
As Chair of the Labour Committee, Charel stands for a responsible and fair labour policy and has also taken clear positions on key issues such as the minimum wage and Sunday work:
He saw the adjustment of the minimum wage as a signal of social cohesion: a strong society is shown by how it supports those who need it most
On the issue of Sunday work, he did not think in black-and-white terms, but sought a responsible balance: between economic reality and the right to rest, family life and social cohesion
As Chair of the special committee on the Caritas affair, Charel led the work and hearings in order to draw the necessary conclusions in the final report
He also took a stance on several important justice dossiers:
The reform of adoption law opened doors: today, unmarried couples and single people can also provide a child with a secure home
The justice system was strengthened with the necessary resources and efficient, modern tools to consistently combat serious crime
As Chair of the Sports Committee, Charel is committed to strong sports clubs and a vibrant volunteer sector, because this commitment is the backbone of our sports world.
In the future too, Charel wants to support the various dossiers with calm and responsibility and further strengthen the Luxembourg model.
