PARLIAMENTARY WORK
As President of the Luxembourg delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Nancy is the spokesperson in any debate about this alliance. On aligning and increasing NATO financial targets, she says that nobody wants higher military spending, but peace and security do not come for free. Investments in future technologies such as drones and cyber security, and the financial centre as well, could play an important role. The aim is not remilitarisation, but preserving the freedom and security of citizens in Europe.
Nancy is proud that petitions gained strong momentum and popularity during her presidency (until 2023). It is extremely important to her that politics listens to citizens and lets them help shape it. She is just as proud that the independent contact point for children and victims of sexual abuse, which she had called for in a motion, became a reality, and that the law on sexual abuse was tightened accordingly. This topic is no longer taboo, she stresses.
The topics of Nancy’s many parliamentary questions are above all equality, sport and physical activity at all ages, as well as women’s health.
Alongside the topics of health and sport, Nancy will focus on equal opportunities and security.
